Primary 1: Farm and Food Explorers🚜🍎

8th Jun 2026
Primary 1 have had a fantastic time exploring all things farm and food.

We started by coding our way round the farmyard with the Beebot, then got hands-on in our water tray ‘milking parlour’. During play based learning we acted out life on the farm in our role play farm shop, cafe, and ice cream parlour as well as tackling some farm and food games and puzzles too.

The highlight of this term was our trip to Streamvale Farm where, despite the very wet weather, we enjoyed meeting and feeding the animals and learning where our food comes from. Back in school, we used what we’d learned to make our own delicious milkshakes.

We also enjoyed the stories, Oliver’s Vegetables, Oliver’s Milkshake and Oliver’s fruit salad. We got creative with fruit and vegetable printing and finished by making fruity kebabs on skewers.

It’s been a fun, messy and tasty topic full of curiosity, learning and lots of hands-on discovery!
