Soap Knapping - making Mesolithic hand tools from soap

Soap Knapping - making Mesolithic hand tools from soap

So exciting on Wednesday, we will be using our carving skills to recreate Mesolithic scrapers, hand axes, awls, spear tips and arrow heads.  We will keep you posted with photographs.

Wow, we found soap knapping quite a good challenge - still easier than real flint.  Imperial Leather and Palmolive cut easily but others needed a bit of welly. Classrooms smelled delicious though. I think we were glad to use metal tools, we were imagining using stone instead.
